KIPP San Antonio Application and Enrollment Process

KIPP San Antonio is a network of FREE public schools of choice that will serve approximately 700 students in 5^th – 10^th grades during the 2010-2011 school year.  As an open enrollment charter school, KIPP San Antonio welcomes all students that live inside Loop-410 (with the exception of students that are zoned for Alamo Heights ISD or any of the military base schools) to apply for admission regardless of past academic success, test scores or behavioral history.  We do not administer any testing prior to the lottery.

• KIPP Aspire Academy, Grades 5^th – 8^th
• KIPP Camino Academy, Grade 5^th

1. All students and parents are highly encouraged to attend one of our parent information sessions to learn about our school’s academics, culture and expectations.
2. Parent Information Meetings

Note: All Parent Information Meetings for fall 2010 enrollment have been completed. 

1. Complete a Lottery Application form using one of the following methods.
   • Complete an online application.
   • Download and print a paper application (Spanish version is here), fill it out and bring it to one of our school offices.
   • Visit one of our school offices and fill out an application.
   • Attend one of our parent information meetings and fill out an application.
2. Lottery Applications for KIPP University Prep must be completed and turned in to the school office no later than 5:00 pm on February 22, 2010. Note: The lottery application deadline has passed.
3. Lottery Applications for KIPP Aspire Academy and KIPP Camino Academy must be completed and turned in to the KIPP Aspire Academy office no later than 5:00 pm on April 30, 2010. Note: The lottery application deadline has passed.

1. KIPP University Prep will conduct its lottery in the school cafeteria at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Note: The lottery has been conducted.
2. KIPP Aspire Academy and KIPP Camino Academy will conduct their lotteries in the KIPP Aspire gymnasium at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 6, 2010. Note: The lottery has been conducted.
3. Siblings of currently enrolled KIPP San Antonio students have first priority for enrollment.
4. After all eligible siblings have been enrolled, and in the event that we have more applicants than available slots for a certain grade and/or school, all remaining applicants that have met the application deadline will be entered into a public lottery.
5. Student names will be drawn until all available slots at that grade and/or school have been filled.
6. Students not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list in the order that they are drawn in the lottery.
7. After all eligible siblings have been enrolled, and in the event that we DO NOT have more applicants than available slots for a certain grade and/or school, then all applicants that have met the application deadline will be enrolled in the school.
8. The lottery is open to the public and students and parents are encouraged to attend.

1. In the event that the school and/or grade has available slots, that student will be enrolled in the school.
2. In the event that the school and/or grade DOES NOT have any available slots, that student will be placed on the waiting list on a first come, first-served order.

1. All students that have been selected for enrollment via the lottery will be notified no later than one week following the lottery.
2. Formal enrollment paperwork for the student must be completed no later than two weeks following the completion of the lottery. If the enrollment paperwork has not been completed by this date, the student risks losing their slot.
3. All students selected for enrollment in grades 6^th - 8^th will be required to undergo placement testing to determine the appropriate grade for the student.
