Advisory
KIPP Aspire students are organized into groups for daily Advisory Periods to continue the important work of developing character and organizing service learning activities that benefit our city. KIPP Aspire's faculty serve as student mentors and service learning coordinators for their groups. Empathy for one another. Courage to share.
Daily Schedule
KIPP Aspire's school day starts at 7:30 am and concludes at 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The school day starts at 7:30 am and concludes at 2:30 pm on Wednesdays. School is also held on two Saturdays a month from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. We strive for excellence on every task every day. Learning communities are built one day at a time.
School Calendar
KIPP Aspire's school year began on August 10, 2009 with summer school. This introductory summer month was held on our campus. During summer school we introduce students to our "culture" and engage in team-building actvities and classroom instruction. The school year will conclude on June 4, 2010. There are no shortcuts in achieving excellence.
Uniforms
Students are required to wear their KIPP Aspire Academy "jerseys" and khaki pants or shorts during regular school hours except for special events. Shirts must be tucked in and belts must be worn. Only a KIPP sweatshirt may be worn during school hours for additional layering. The KIPP Aspire jerseys are earned during summer school. Excellence in every detail. We are a community of learners.
Service Learning
An essential part of the moral development and curricular programming for our 7th and 8th graders is service learning. Part of the mission of our school is to positively impact the communities in which we live. KIPP Aspire students work with City Year San Antonio and Young Heroes students from the other schools to outline a plan for service and then initiate their plans on select Saturday school days. Courage to serve. Service rooted in empathy.
College Connections
KIPP Aspire students make frequent visits to college campuses in San Antonio and all neighboring cities during the year, and they have opportunities to visit out of area sites as well. Courage to excel in a new environment.
End of Year Trips
Students who achieve the grade and behavior requirements qualify for exciting end of the year trips. These trips are multi-day educational excursions to destinations outside of the central Texas region.
